It is with great joy that SPACE congratulates Lord Morrow and the legislators of Northern Ireland for their passage of a human rights/women’s rights based law that criminalises the purchase of human beings for commercial sexual exploitation. This law redirects law-enforcement resources to arrest those who prey on the most vulnerable among us for the purposes of sexual abuse and exploitation. This law also recognizes the need to create exiting programs for the women and children caught up in the sex trade. The passage of this bill aligns Northern Ireland with countries that take seriously the creation of equality for women and ending human trafficking.
