Phoenix Women’s Program

A Holistic Study Program for prostitution survivors.

Space Intl.

A true bottom-up movement cannot be done without investing in the leadership of survivors.

SPACE strives to be a learning community, advancing the leadership of our members as well as introducing emerging ones into this work, providing opportunities to learn, heal, and gain an understanding about systems of injustice and oppression.

The goal is to uplift survivors’ experiences through political education and activism; it’s a call to action, putting those most impacted in the forefront of a movement that presents the sex trade as inherently exploitative and embedded in patriarchal systems of inequality.

Survivors need to be in the forefront of the abolitionist movement; however, we are not always fully represented in decision-making roles and face numerous barriers to employment. We know that societal shifts have been propelled by those most impacted, through a bottom up movement, driven by shared experiences and injustices, but this also requires skill, strategic thinking, effective communication, and ability to cultivate healthy, strong relationships. Therefore, access to trainings/educational workshops is essential, especially workshops that build on the wisdom of people’s lived experience, a program that enables those with lived experiences to become strong influential advocates for change.

Therefore, we are introducing a Survivor Leadership program that will be offered in three levels. An intermediate and advanced level for those who are current members of SPACE and an initial/introductory level for potential members, survivors who are new to this work. Many survivors who are connected or have gone through front-line programs express the desire to use their experiences for change, but need access to educational and skill-building workshops in order to create pathways for employment, to work on abolitionist coalitions, and or in exit programs.

SPACE is excited to announce the launch of the Phoenix Women’s Program scheduled for 2025- 26 through our partnership with emargi, which was founded by feminist activist survivor Amelia Tiganus.

Amelia, with her team, Nerea Novo, Marta Torres and Corina D’Antoni developed a unique curriculum that covers not only basic feminist concepts but also delves into our shared mission of abolitionist principles.

Presented through an online platform, Phoenix Women’s Program offers a combination of political education, mentorship and peer learning through a culture of healing, which is necessary to build a healthy and resilient movement. This program is open to members and emerging leaders who share the mission of SPACE Intl. The 2025-25 program is also committed to elevating the voices of the Spanish-speaking communities in the global south, with the first cohort scheduled to start towards the end of 2025.

Members are able to gain practical skills in strategizing and implementing action plans that harness the power of the collective, as well as information on major institutions’ roles and legislative processes.
